My unfiltered opinion on Star Trek: Discovery

WARNING THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS AND STRONG LANGUAGE. So, right after I saw the pilot on Netflix, I ranted about this series on Facebook and promised to go a bit more into detail, maybe in a video, once I’m back in Germany. A promise on which I haven’t delivered so far. I intended this to be a video on my YT channel, however, I ended up deciding not to, as I don’t really have any video footage about this to show for, and I didn’t just want to copy from the series – so a blog post will have to do. … Continue reading My unfiltered opinion on Star Trek: Discovery

[Post 6] #oneweekdailyblogging – on responsibility when posting on social media

A lot of people post a lot of shit on social media. Especially when it is about politics, conspiracy theories, or other highly polarizing things, a lot of people don’t even make the effort to check their source. I’ve called out several friends in the past, when they posted something with an untrustworthy source, or worse things that are obviously false. What gets me each time, is how often people respond in a careless manner, saying things like: “It was just a link, I can’t check every link I copy” (well maybe you should copy less links) or “Well I … Continue reading [Post 6] #oneweekdailyblogging – on responsibility when posting on social media

[Post 2] #oneweekdailyblogging – what did others pick for their first post?

So, its day two of the #oneweekdailyblogging. If you don’t know what that is, check out the original post on @Anemsalok’s  blog http://anemsalok.org/?p=896, explaining the rules. [Post 1] #oneweekdailyblogging – thanks tom..

So after being nominated himself yesterday, tom nominated me for #oneweekdailyblogging last night. @piinkO_o @Anemsalok ah well.. why not. @schwulemiker & @badidol @MartinDomig & @ppetermann I nominate you #oneweekdailyblogging — Tom Burck (@Tom174_) June 17, 2016 Now this is going to be interesting, as usually I blog when I have a subject I want to blog about, now pulling topics out of the hat to fill a complete week with posts will be a bit challenging. Probably I could get the week full with tech/php/composer posts, so expect a few of those – but I’ll try to post a few … Continue reading [Post 1] #oneweekdailyblogging – thanks tom..

My new homepage

TL;DR I’ve redone my homepage last weekend, go look at it or don’t some history Homepages.. I’ve had several since the mid 1990’s. My first one was just me toying around with new exciting technology, it had a bit of text (in german) about myself, and a few hyperlinks to a few friends. Over the years it grew, started show casing some pictures I rendered, offering some code I published – around 1999/2000 I had come to aggregate the headlines of a few news sites, provided some downloads and probably had the most regular visiting users in the history of … Continue reading My new homepage

2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog. Here’s an excerpt: The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 13,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 5 sold-out performances for that many people to see it. a small follow up…

Quite a few people have read my post where i criticized an article about harassment in the gaming industry, now i’d like to follow up on that post. There has been some discussion on my post on facebook and some people had problems understanding why I felt it necessary to criticize such an public stance against harassment – while i felt the article was portraying problems as a women-only problem, which i don’t think is correct. Today i signed an open letter to the gaming community against harassment. This letter in my opinion shows a much better way of adressing … Continue reading a small follow up…
